| Hey, Yeah I have heard a few things about them, nothing bad tho. Personally I think that we should support any uk based collecting company, if you are that way inclined to grade your items and live in the uk and have used the afa/cgc before /like myself/ you will know how much hastle it is, and how time consuming those damn Spreadsheets were the first time you used them. never mind giving them your credit card details so as they can calculate return postage+customs charge that you WILL get, believe it you will, I have paid over a hundred squids on customs charges last week alone!! its all bigbadtoystores fault and there blooming preorder system and stock turn around. But i digress. After navigating through the ukg pages and finding the application details I noticed how damn easy it was, but it is a tad pricey. I have a few Action Force / Gi joe and starwars vintage carded figs that I need grading and was going to send to AFA but I think I will give ukg a go, but I think emails first and see what custom case's they can do to carry mailaways and groupings of figs. I for one am fed up feeding the american ecomomy! and getting customs harrasing me for spending 50 pounds out of the country!! If you are having the item graded just for yourself and your own peace of mind thats fine, 'cause in my opinion graded figs stand out and look pretty good on your shelf or cabinet, but I wouldn't say they would do well sale wise compared to AFA especially on eBay. Thats my 2-penny's worth, Thanks for the heads up Lord Starwars, I am on it and will report back any and all findings I have...

| I have used AFA on a number of occassions and have never ever paid Customs charges on the items that they have sent me back. This is mostly due to their Customer Service department actually attaching a letter to the side of each box telling UK customs that the contents of the box are infact the recipients own collection which has been sent to be graded and therefore has no commercial value for Customs purposes. So do not be put off by horror stories of customs charges, as these earlier in this post relate to purchases of commercial products and as such Taxes and Customs duties are payable on these items, as they are on all purchases from the US totalling above $50 but these taxes also take into account the cost of the shipping as well. Hence why earlier in this thread someone ordering from Bigbadtoystore got hit for £100 worth of charges......... I have seen the UK Grader product and yes it is impressive and definately holds a place in the market for those persons wishing to case their items, but does it add any value to your items like a grading from AFA probably would, I wait to see....... Just my two pence worth..... Nick

Just my two pence worth..... Nick Yeah good point, I didn't mean to scare anyone with "horror stories"...I have used the AFA 3 times in total over the years and I have only been charged at uk customs once! and that was the my last order, I did mainly mean commercial products /I go off target fairly easily/It seems that the current finacial situation is resulting in the uk customs and revenue, grabbing at any and all orders from outside the eu, over 18gbp / 36usd declared!! /maybe thats just my paranoia/ Im lumping them all together, as I was told that I recieved a charge 'cause I had paid for a service which was more than the maximum I could spend vat free, no matter if its products or a service. and also what I have been told is that, shipping is also included in the final total viable for a charge... As for grading figures to grow in value, I think thats fair enough if thats what you do. But me personally I very rarely sell items that I have graded or not. If I buy it I keep it, more often than not. I think we have all been shocked at how much AFA graded items can go for, as much as 10 times there actual secondary market value in some case's, Only time will tell if UKG will become as widly known as the AFA is, but as their reputation grows and they get more clientel, the value in the items should grow aswell. I for one hope they do well and I am eager to see a graded product in my hands. So please dont be scared by my customs horror story, im just trying to give a bit of advise by sharing my experiences. We all have to help each other out in this crazy expensive world we live in now...
