After posting about Luke Skywalker's lightsabre launching into space yesterday, it got me thinking as to how we in the UK should spell lightsabre.

Is the word lightsaber trademarked, registered or copyrighted?  If so, I guess we should go with that, but then we do have www.lightsabre.co.uk, so we can hardly ignore that spelling....

Anybody care to comment?

Lightsaber is the LFL trademarked name and has always been used, lightsabre.co.uk were able to nab the url through the english spelling of the sabre.

Im going to go with saber because a lightsaber doesn't match any of these criteria

  • saber: a fencing sword with a v-shaped blade and a slightly curved handle
  • cavalry sword: a stout sword with a curved blade and thick back
  • i didn't google it honest.

"sorry that was me i just made a darth doodie"

    "i just sithed myself"

    LMAO, High Five!

It is 'Lightsaber' by the way unless you are on a budget, a bad proof reader or just to avoid a lawsuit.
