Does anyone else think that Hasbro are over-estimating the desire for anything Clone? Looking at the amount of 'off-camera' or Hasbro-creation Clones, i'm thinking they may be killing the desirability of Clones by giving us too many. Back in 02/03, we had so few Clones building an army seemed appealing- and they all looked the same. Now, it's a case of choosing which armies to build! I was under the impression I'd army build any Clone, but with all of these extra color schemes Hasbro create I've narrowed my focus to on-screen battallions.

What's everyone else's view on this one?

I'm not really collecting much 3 3/4" stuff at the moment, but if I was I would just collect Clones that had been 'on screen'.  I don't know what the rest of the countries stocks are like?, but at my local Toys 'r' us most of the TAC figures that are still hanging on the pegs are clone troops.

"What you think you're some kinda Jedi, waving your hand around like that?"

"I'm a Toydarian. Mind tricks don'ta work on me-only money. No money, no parts! No deal!"

I can't move for clones, but yep totally agree, 2007 was year of the milking in every colour and re-release etc.

I'm worried that they are spilling this mentality now over into Original Trilogy with Blackhole Stormtroopers, Shadow Scouts, Hoth Scouts and some Stormtroopers that look like they have been puked on from Force Unleashed.

We are at the threshold of Hell people!!!

I have to say i bought into this, the same as most folks initially becuase we never had them, however as a one time Batman collector I am at the same point i was 10 years ago "do I need a yellow surfer dude batman" or soon to be stormtrooper I am all for variants (look at my voting on the last saga wave) but it is getting out of hand, more so now that a character can be created through marketing i can just imagine the meeting for force unleashed,

Guy 1: " Hey lets introduce stormtroopers into the game"

Guy 2: "Yeah but lets put paint on em cause Hasbro say they sell the best and collectors love em"

Guy 1  " yeah wicked cool"

"It will be done my lord"

I agree too many clone variants this year (and I focus on them). Ive decided that a squad of plain white clones coupled with the correct officers is the way forward for ep2 and the film based battalions for ep3. My one exception being commander Alpha from the comic pack as he is quite unique in my view(and he rocks!).
More worrying is that Toys r us has completely stuffed the pegs with saga legends clones which are not going anywhere to the detriment of the TAC collection which seems to have halted at wave 3.
I feel we wont see the last waves at retail(in toys r us) because of all these clones Perhaps they could change the store name to Clones R us!
However if the new show revives interest in Star Wars we may see more repaints!

Welcome stranger whatya buying..

UK retailers never sell the last remaining waves of anything as the buyer is being offered the next new product line, so why spend the money on 'old' when you can stock 'new' even though the only difference is packaging.

I think what Saga Legends has shown is there is a limit to how many Clones people will buy. The number of them on the pegs when I went to the States was a similar story, I came back with 8 white AOTC Clones and could have easily got more.

I think the problem is it's too late. The people who want to army-build AOTC Clones have eitehr gone on eBay or got the EE box sets, the SHock Trooper had been released plenty of times and the white ROTS Clone doesn't even appear on-screen.

Also, I think one of the reasons CLones used to be popular was because there were never quite enough to go around. I'm not saying it should be like that, but by producing so many Hasbro has lost the 'novelty' aspect of getting a really nice, well-articulated Clone Trooper.
