I humbly request the guidance of the Jedi Council, again (and I especially turn to you Dark_iced_jedi) because my lovely fiancee, Tracey, purchased a Kubrick (Series 6 TIE Fighter Pilot (with Blaster Rifle) (6cm tall)) as a surprise for me from WWW.ANYTOYS.CO.UK and when it arrived not only was the box opened but the foil bag inside aswell.  The clear packaging around the figure was still intact.  Tracey got rather concerned and phoned Any Toys to discuss the issue and was told that this is normal as sometimes what is indicated on the box, via the printed description and the printed tick in the relevant section, isn't always what is actually inside so their supplier opens the box to make sure that what is being delivered is correct and then Any Toys just forward them out when purchased.  This sounds a bit funny to me.  Has anybody else experienced anything similar?  Please advise.  Thank you.

This doesn't sound right, sorry... From my knowledge of Kubricks there are always chase figures and sometimes dealers carefully open the box and outer 'metal' bag to check and see if they have something they can make extra money on.  I've seen this done several times before and normally a dealer will tell you that the packages has been opened (if this is the case they should charge slightly less for the item).  If the item is MISB (mint in sealed box) then I'd expect to pay a little more for it.  I have all the single boxed figures released so far (not variants) and a few of mine have been opened but I was OK with that.

I HTH (hope that helps) but it sounds like they haven't been completely honest with you.

As James has previously said above most dealers will open the boxes and the foil outer bag inorder to see if there is a chase figure contianied within the packaging. But I know that when I have done this I state that the item has been opened and is not sold as Mint In Sealed Box.

If it is being sold as MISB and it is clearly not, then they are breaching both the Sale of Goods Act and also the Trade Descriptions Act. Their local trading standards would be happy to hear about your experience.

On the subject of Trading Standards all stands at the Celebration Europe event were visited at some stage or another by Trading Standards including myself, they left my stand very happy with what they saw and heard and commented that they wished others would take our examples of dealing with peoples problems.......

Thanks guys for the info.

I have rechecked the website and it doesn't state anywhere that it is MISB, or opened, or even how it is packaged.  So I dont think Trading Standards would follow up on anything.

Tracey just got concerned as I dont tend to open my items.  At least we know for future purchases.  We will just try another outlet to see if they unopen their goods.  Thank you.

Yes that is exactly why. If you research the boxes that the chase come in, you can work out which kubricks will come sealed from most dealers and which ones they will open to check (providing they didn't get them for release as Medicom do not announce what the chases are let alone which boxes so in that case, dealers would open the lot). The 'Tie Pilot' contained either an Imperial Officer or Tarkin chase (1:98).

Every Kubrick I've bought has been opened. It's the dealers opening them up to find the chase figures so they can charge ridiculous prices on Ebay etc.I only collect the standard ones, unless i find a chase for a fair price.

Kubricks are really unusual but I'm put off collecting them because they are so expensive for (in my opinion) glorified Lego.

Do you get anything for them like vehicles?
