Kubricks are really unusual but I'm put off collecting them because they are so expensive for (in my opinion) glorified Lego. Do you get anything for them like vehicles? glorified LEGO??? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? First off, they are more expensive due to exhange rate and production run of these are far fewer than any LEGO figure. Once they have been made, that's it. Production run is also only dictated by pre-orders from dealers, the production runs for certain series are less than the preceeding one, as the characters in the wave did not generate as much pre-release interest. The exact production run per wave isn't known either, but the last two waves are at least double that of the earlier waves. These are more like 3D trading cards than toys, and that is how they are sold in the blind packaging as a result. The big exception here, and the biggest gripe to new collectors is that they hold their value. The chases are generally very hard to get, and present a challenge, but they are not swamping the market like UGH does. Second and to me what the biggest appeal is, unlike any other product line created, Kubricks respectfully nod the original toys, from Vinyl Caped Jawas and Blue Snaggletooths to Early Bird Kits and show exclusive carded figures. It's a great spin, without reprinting or remaking like Hasbro have done. Kubricks rock.
